The PNEC 2030 – National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 – has been approved in general.
By 2030, the PNEC sets a target of 47% of energy coming from renewable sources and a 35% reduction in primary energy consumption, marking the country’s commitment to decarbonizing the energy sector, with a view to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The NECP is an obligation of EU member states and establishes national contributions and national policies and measures for meeting the EU’s various global commitments, including in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energies, energy efficiency and interconnections.
